About 23% of Ukraine’s territory remains potentially dangerous due to mines and explosive contamination.
To raise awareness about mine danger, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, in partnership with stalker Skif — the hero of the iconic game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl — launched a joint information project.
The events of the game unfold in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone — a place that in reality was temporarily occupied and mined, making it a relevant location for demonstrating safety rules in dangerous conditions.
Through a video based on the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, Skif demonstrates basic mine safety rules: do not approach, do not touch suspicious objects, and if you notice a threat, return the same way you came and call 101.
The goal of the project is to communicate safety rules to the most vulnerable segment of the young gaming audience, which, according to UNICEF and Rating Group research (2024), most often engages in risky behavior.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine and Skif urge parents, teachers, and community leaders to spread information about handling explosive objects and to support initiatives that save lives. In a world where danger can lurk even in your own backyard, knowledge becomes armor! Remember: to be brave means to be careful!
